Overwatch 2 is introducing a fresh vampire-themed support hero, wrapping up Act III of The Reign of Talon saga, and rolling out significant character reworks. The new hero, Doctrine, is a vampire support who excels at dealing damage and healing, with a high skill ceiling. He arrives alongside a new playable escort map called Watch Point Grimsvotn, a volcanic prison where he is held captive. Additionally, Doctrine will be available for a trial weekend starting today, September 12, both at the Blizzcon convention and from home.

In other major updates, Overwatch Season 5 kicks off on October 6. Dokiwatch is making a comeback, and several characters are getting substantial changes: Roadhog is being reworked into a tank that 'actually helps his team,' according to Blizzard franchise leads, while Sombra is transitioning to the support class.

The Overwatch 2026 World Cup Finals are also happening at Blizzcon this weekend, with live performances by Japanese pop group YOASOBI and K-Pop group LE SSERAFIM. A new hero was teased for Season 6, and a new Spotlight event is set for February 2027, which will feature a 'new story, a fresh set of heroes, and amazing new systems' that the team says will bring the game back to 'peak Overwatch.'

This weekend also marks a first for Overwatch: at Blizzcon, Matt Mercer, the voice of Cole Cassidy, will lead an Overwatch tabletop RPG session with the voice actors for Symmetra, Sombra, Reinhardt, and Vendetta, in a unique story crafted for the convention. Blizzcon will also auction off figures, merchandise, artwork, collectibles, and more to benefit Make-A-Wish.

Lastly, don't miss Overwatch's collaboration with LE SSERAFIM, available now. This collab includes stylish themed cosmetics, emotes, and in-game challenges.
