Phantom Blade Zero is already making waves, with estimates indicating the action game has surpassed 1 million copies sold before its official release.
Rhys Elliott, head of market analysis at Alinea Analytics, shared on social media that Phantom Blade Zero has sold an estimated 850,000 pre-launch copies on Western platforms Steam and PS5. When including sales from Tencent's WeGame—a PC storefront in China—the total exceeds 1 million.
Elliott noted that about three-quarters of the Western pre-launch sales came from Steam, and nearly two-thirds of all pre-launch sales originate from China, Taiwan, or Hong Kong. Phantom Blade Zero is a wuxia action game developed by Chinese studio S-Game and features martial arts star Donnie Yen.
According to Elliott, these pre-launch sales have generated $43 million in revenue, propelling the game into the top 40 games of 2026 by revenue—even before launch and despite being available only on PC and PS5. However, he cautioned that Phantom Blade Zero is unlikely to match the sales heights of 2024's megahit Black Myth Wukong, but still, "it'll sell a lot of copies this year in a crowded market."
For context, Game Science's Black Myth Wukong sold an astounding 10 million copies in its first three days and has reportedly sold over 20 million copies to date. A follow-up is unsurprisingly in development.
IGN's 9/10 review of Phantom Blade called it "an unbelievably smooth action game filled with memorable boss fights, compelling combat, and limitless swagger."
