Capcom's sci-fi adventure Pragmata, featuring an android girl sidekick, appears poised for a sequel. According to Capcom corporate officer Yoshikazu Shimauchi, the chances of a follow-up are high, as discussed during the company's impressive latest financial results (via Bloomberg). Pragmata has sold 2.51 million units worldwide in just three months—a solid figure for a new franchise. Earlier, Capcom USA COO Rob Dyer hinted at a sequel, saying, "We're to a point now where we’ve got another IP that Capcom can continue to go down," while noting the six-year development was "worth the effort." Beyond Pragmata, Capcom is thriving with Resident Evil and Monster Hunter franchises. Strong back catalog sales and a positive response to Resident Evil Requiem boosted profits, with shares rising 19% after better-than-expected results. Resident Evil Requiem has sold 8 million copies, expected to grow with discounts and a post-launch expansion. Resident Evil 4 Remake has sold 16 million copies, while the Resident Evil 2 remake leads the series at 19.75 million, surpassing Resident Evil 5's 19.01 million. Pragmata is a near-future sci-fi action-adventure where protagonists Hugh and his android companion Diana navigate a cold lunar research station, blending shooting and hacking puzzles. IGN's review praised its "punchy shooting action and creative hacking-puzzle gameplay," noting the story, though secondary, drives the experience through this satisfying third-person shooter.
