Battlefield 6 fans are divided after discovering that EA and developer Battlefield Studios have added an option to pre-order the Season 3 battle pass nearly two weeks before its launch. Confusion arose when a player shared a screenshot on Reddit showing an in-game "Next Season Preorder" page with two options: the standard battle pass and the Battlefield Pro version. IGN confirmed the feature, noting that players can now pre-purchase the Season 3 pass via a button on the battle pass screen. The original post was slightly outdated, as the Pro version now costs $25 instead of 500 Battlefield Coins, while the standard pass costs 1,100 Coins (about $9.99). This marks a shift in monetization, allowing players to lock in for Season 3 ahead of its expected May 12 release. Early purchasers get rewards like the Verdant L110 Weapon Package for the standard pass or two weapon packs for the Pro version. Players are uncertain about this practice, as it's uncommon in gaming. Many note that Call of Duty, criticized for aggressive monetization, has avoided such pre-orders. However, EA's Apex Legends has previously offered battle pass pre-orders. The main issue is that EA and BF Studios haven't revealed Season 3's contents, and some question pre-ordering digital content. "Not even [Call of Duty] does it," one Reddit user said. Another joked, "Look you'll be able to buy passes for the pass that gets you the battle pass." Despite criticism, some players have already committed, as Battlefield 6 battle passes typically grant enough coins for the next pass, making early purchase appealing. "I finished [Season 2]. I have 1100 [Battlefield Coins] sitting there. Why wouldn’t I do this lol," one player said. The pre-order option arrives as Season 3 nears launch. As detailed in an IGN preview, the upcoming content and promised Seasons 4 and 5 will shape the franchise's future. While waiting, read about BF Studios' plans to address community feedback and why some suspect Season 5 will include a Las Vegas multiplayer map.
