Bethesda has announced that The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered will launch for Nintendo Switch 2 on August 11, available digitally via the eShop and physically with the full base game on a cartridge.

The physical edition includes a proper cartridge (not a Game-Key Card) that provides access to the Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine expansions, though Bethesda hasn't confirmed if these are fully on the card. Additional content will require a download, but unlike the GTA 6 situation, it's not just a code in the box.

Included DLCs are Fighter's Stronghold, Spell Tomes, Vile Lair, Mehrune's Razor, The Thieves Den, Wizard's Tower, The Orrery, and the infamous Horse Armor Pack. A code grants access to Akatosh and Mehruns Dagon armors, weapons, and horse armor sets.

While this sounds good, fans have raised concerns after today's release date trailer, which is mostly a two-minute live-action skit featuring the Adoring Fan. Only about 20 seconds of in-game footage appear at the end, which viewers described as "choppy" and "rough."

"This runs like nuclear ass on my 13700k/5090 rig, and on PS5/XSX as well," one ResetEra user wrote. "This is going to be a disaster..."

Another countered: "On one hand, Fallout 4 was rough on Switch 2 at first too, but I think I remember hearing its issues got ironed out in the end. On the other hand, this is Oblivion Remastered, a game that makes my RTX 4080 cry."

In a press release to IGN, Bethesda confirmed the Switch 2 version runs with DLSS support at 900p 30fps handheld and 1080p 30fps docked.

Originally launched in April 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S, Oblivion Remastered scored an 8/10 in IGN's review, praised as "a fantastic modernization of an iconic open-world RPG, even if it maintains some of the jank and rough edges of the original." Pre-orders for the Switch 2 version are now live.
