The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Recasts Lead After Fan Backlash

Developer Owlcat Games has announced that The Expanse: Osiris Reborn will recast its male protagonist and his twin brother following negative fan feedback. In a blog post, the studio acknowledged that while the voice actor for these roles put in solid work, the performances felt less expressive than desired. As a result, they are now searching for a replacement actor. The recasting comes after a beta test that received mixed reactions, but Owlcat says the feedback was actionable. With the full game not releasing until 2027, there is ample time to address concerns, including adjustments to gameplay, tone, and quality-of-life features. Fans hope this sci-fi RPG will rival upcoming titles like Exodus. While replacing an actor after public exposure is rare, it has happened before—Bungie swapped Peter Dinklage for Nolan North as Destiny's Ghost after fan complaints, and 343 Industries briefly recast Master Chief and Cortana for Halo 4 before reverting due to internal feedback. Similarly, IO Interactive replaced Agent 47's actor in Hitman: Absolution but brought him back after fan backlash.
