In a recent cybersecurity incident, the hacking group ShinyHunters has prematurely released stolen data from Rockstar Games, shedding light on the revenue figures for GTA Online and Red Dead Online. Notably, the leak does not include any information about the highly anticipated GTA 6.
The data was first examined by GTA Forums user Lexiture and later covered by Kotaku. It confirms that GTA Online significantly outperforms Red Dead Online in terms of earnings, a finding that aligns with the varying levels of support Rockstar provides for each live service game. Additionally, the information highlights that PlayStation 5 leads in both player count and revenue for GTA Online, with PC trailing behind even last-generation consoles in these metrics.
Amid the ongoing circulation of Rockstar leaks, an analysis was compiled to break down weekly spending in GTA Online by platform. According to data from GTA Forums, PS5 accounts for over half of the weekly bookings, generating approximately $4.486 million per week, underscoring its dominant position in the game's ecosystem.
GTA 6 is scheduled for release this November, exclusively on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S consoles.
