FromSoftware has announced that Elden Ring Tarnished Edition will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on August 28, 2026. The extra content included in this edition will also be available as a separate purchase on other platforms the same day, under the name Tarnished Pack DLC.

The $79.99 Tarnished Edition includes the base game, the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion, new weapons, the ability to customize Torrent (the player's Spectral Steed) with armor skins, and two new starting classes.

Publisher Bandai Namco confirmed that the new content will be available for purchase on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. While the price for the Tarnished Pack DLC hasn't been announced, many expect it to be around $5.

Originally slated for a 2025 release, the Switch 2 version of FromSoftware's 2022 Game of the Year-winning fantasy RPG was delayed to 2026 to "allow time for performance adjustments." This was widely interpreted as addressing technical issues reported by those who played an early version of the Tarnished Edition on Switch 2.

IGN had firsthand experience with these issues, calling Elden Ring on Switch 2 "a disaster in handheld mode" after testing it at gamescom last year. Performance problems were particularly noticeable during exploration, with "significant frame rate drops when turning the camera outside the tutorial area." Combined with a confusing button layout on Switch 2, this made combat and exploration frustrating.

Here's hoping those performance issues are resolved for the August launch.
