Deltarune Chapter 5 finally has a release date, and Undertale creator Toby Fox took the opportunity to give fans an encouraging progress update on Chapter 6. The year-long wait for more from this parallel story RPG ended during today's June 2026 Nintendo Direct, where the fifth major chapter was revealed with a release date of June 24, 2026—just 15 days away. It will launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
Since Chapter 4 launched over a year ago, Fox made sure the wait was worth it with a 46-second teaser that showed just enough while saving the best moments for the full release. You can see the trailer below.
Right after the Direct appearance, Fox shared behind-the-scenes details in his newsletter. After apologizing for the wait, he revealed that the trailer was made by artist Everdraed, with music performed and arranged by Carlos "insaneintherain" Eiene. Animator and developer Temmie Chang, known for Undertale's Temmie, handled the lovely art at the end of the trailer.
"In Chapter 4, we saw dark clouds on the horizon… That’s why, let’s not look there for now," Fox said. "Let’s turn around and watch the sun, before it goes down completely. Let’s smile again. Let’s have one more fun adventure, okay?" He added, "In my opinion, it fits well in the overall story of the game."
With Chapter 5 just weeks away, Fox also updated fans on Chapter 6, saying it's "developing well" with good progress on cutscenes and NPC interactions. He even noted, "This Chapter is easier to make than the others, so the development is going quite fast." Fox went on to say, "This sounds crazy, but it’s not unrealistic that some staff members may start working on Chapter 7 before the end of the year."
As Deltarune Chapter 5 prepares to launch and Chapter 6 progresses smoothly, the wait for the seventh and final chapter may be shorter than expected. In the meantime, check out IGN's 9/10 review of the first few chapters, and catch up on everything else announced at the June 2026 Nintendo Direct.
