A dedicated Crimson Desert fan has achieved the game's Platinum trophy after logging an astonishing 305 hours since its release, sparking both amazement and concern within the gaming community. The Platinum trophy, awarded to PlayStation players who unlock every other trophy in a title, was earned by TioZer0, who already boasts multiple Platinum achievements. After sharing a screenshot of this feat on Reddit, where it quickly went viral, TioZer0 detailed the journey behind it.
As news of TioZer0's accomplishment spread on social media, Pearl Abyss PR and marketing chief Will Powers expressed disbelief, noting that Crimson Desert had only been available for 428 hours when the Platinum was secured. Redditors calculated that, with the game launching 18 days prior to TioZer0's post, this meant spending roughly 70% of waking hours—or about 13 hours daily—immersed in the game.
TioZer0 explained, "I opted for a blind approach, which took me 305 hours. Over 60 of those hours were dedicated to hunting insects and fish toward the end, so that number is PRETTY inflated. With datamined info now accessible on some websites and guides offering more details, anyone can achieve it in around 130 to 150 hours." While many have criticized such an intense gaming marathon as detrimental to well-being, TioZer0 defended the condensed playtime.
"As long as I eat well, I don't feel the need for much sleep, so I played 56 hours straight, slept eight, and repeated this cycle until finished, only pausing to shower or buy food," they said. "I also only had to work 16 hours during these days, which made it easier to complete the game sooner. Yes, this is extremely unhealthy, I know, and I don't recommend it to anyone, even if you can handle it like me."
Since the post gained traction earlier this week, TioZer0 has responded to comments ranging from concern to praise. One user urged, "Well done, but please my friend go outside and get some sunlight and fresh air." TioZer0 countered, "I completely stopped playing after the Platinum and the very next day I went around the city donating chocolate to children on Easter with the NGO I currently run. Don't worry, it's not a habit—just a one-time marathon."
They added, "I didn't really RUSH through it since I didn't skip any content. I enjoyed it like anyone else, but compressed into big sessions instead of many smaller ones. It was my average pace; the only difference was skipping some nights of sleep and pausing other hobbies during this 'marathon.' I was off work, my girlfriend was abroad with her parents, and I'm living far from family and friends atm, so the stars just aligned for me to no-life a game these days."
Addressing critics, TioZer0 remarked, "I've never received so much hate for free; it's sad to see how many people like to wish bad on strangers for no reason at all. I enjoyed every second of it, and it was a one-time marathon, not years without leaving the house. It's not that deep."
Gaming marathons are nothing new, though their impact on participants now faces more scrutiny. For instance, Guinness World Records enforces rules for would-be record-breakers, including age restrictions and mandatory rest breaks. Amid debates over the ethics of TioZer0's achievement, some have sought tips for securing the Platinum. TioZer0 advised, "Get the Abyssal Cubes as soon as possible. Don't neglect your camp comrades management system (dispatch missions) to avoid harder grinding later, and please PLEASE SEARCH FOR THE INSECTS AND FISH ONLINE—there's already tons of info on datamined websites. Don't waste days like I did; it's not worth the BS RNG and fish spots."
Overall, TioZer0 seemed to relish the experience, stating, "I just don't give it a 10 because of the fishing, but it's an overall incredibly fun game to complete, and no missables or online trophies make it even better! 9/10, and I'll keep playing even after the Platinum."
