Overwatch is set to build on its momentum as it moves into Season 2, continuing the Reign of Talon narrative with the launch of the Summit chapter on April 14. This update brings a wealth of fresh content, from a new hero and map changes to the revival of fan-favorite features and exciting collaborations.
Leading the charge is Sierra, a new DPS hero who serves as Head of Security at Watchpoint: Grand Mesa. With a mysterious background tied to her mother's involvement in the Soldier Enhancement Program, she teams up with Jack Morrison (Soldier 76) to uncover the truth. Equipped with a combat drone named Dorothy and a powerful rifle, Sierra promises dynamic gameplay. Her toolkit details are available for players to explore.
Season 2 introduces Operation: Grand Mesa, an event running from April 14 to May 4 that advances the Reign of Talon story. Players can tackle challenges to earn rewards like Voice Lines, Icons, Name Cards, Titles, Sprays, Battle Pass Tier Skips, and Loot Boxes. The event also delves deeper into the lore of Grand Mesa and Sierra's past.
A highly requested feature makes its comeback: post-match accolades are returning to Overwatch. Removed during the transition to Overwatch 2 in 2023, this system allows players to vote for an MVP from four candidates after each match, recognizing teamwork over flashy plays. Additionally, lobby voice chat enables verbal congratulations, adding a social touch to the experience.
The Control map Antarctic Peninsula has been reworked and will be available from Season 2's start, after being out of rotation since late 2025. Designed to improve engagement clarity, team coordination, and flanking opportunities, it offers a refreshed feel. Details on its three arenas are provided on the Overwatch website.
New mythic skins debut in Season 2, including Soldier 76's Volted Overdrive skin with electric and cybernetic elements, and Genji's Sumi-Ichimonji weapon skin that enhances his dragon theme. Level progression details for both are outlined.
Skin packs add variety, such as the Sakura collection with cherry blossom-inspired looks for Hanzo, Genji, Freja, Juno, Emre, and Junker Queen. LE SSERAFIM returns for a third collaboration, offering a bundle with all 15 legendary skins from their partnership. A Diablo crossover is also teased, featuring a Mephisto-themed Rammatra skin.
The Season 2 Battle Pass adopts a Spring Fairy theme, featuring legendary skins for Ashe, Lifeweaver, Moira, Wuyang, and Echo. Upgrading to the Ultimate Battle Pass grants Spring Fairy Illari and Painter Sierra skins, 20 tier skips, 2,000 Overwatch coins, 80 mythic prisms, loot boxes, and other cosmetics.
Updates to Overwatch's Stadium mode include Ramattra as a playable hero, a Juno rework, and the midseason addition of Jetpack Cat. Control map Lijiang Night Market joins the rotation, and a new decay system replaces season resets for smoother competitive play.
Hero balance tweaks are planned to refresh gameplay options, with specific changes listed for players to review.
