EA is preparing to roll out a fresh Battlefield 6 free trial, giving gamers a sneak peek at the Hagental Base map and Nightfall mode ahead of their official debut in next week's Season 2 update.

The publisher revealed the news today, aiming to let players on the fence about buying the full game sample a curated selection of multiplayer maps and modes through the free-to-play REDSEC experience. This upcoming trial kicks off on March 17 at 5am PT / 8am ET and will wrap up a week later on March 24 at the same times.

Since the trial starts right as Season 2: Nightfall drops, participants will get to dive into some brand-new content. This includes a special playlist featuring a darkened version of the Hagental Base map, with Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, and Domination modes. In the limited-time Nightfall mode, Hagental Base plunges into darkness, challenging players to outmaneuver rival teams using gear like night vision goggles and incendiary grenades for visibility.

While the Nightfall playlist highlights fresh Season 2 additions, free trial users can also explore earlier content via two other playlists: All-Out Warfare and Casual Breakthrough. Casual Breakthrough serves as Battlefield Studios' entry-level playlist, blending matches with real players and bots across maps like Season 2's Contaminated, Season 1's Eastwood, and Hagental Base. All-Out Warfare delivers a classic Battlefield 6 experience, offering Conquest, Breakthrough, and Escalation modes on maps including Eastwood, Mirak Valley, Contaminated, and Hagental Base.

This March free trial marks Battlefield 6's second since its October 2025 release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, arriving during a challenging period for the EA shooter. After a rocky start that left fans dissatisfied and pushed back Season 2, EA announced layoffs within the four-studio team dedicated to the Battlefield franchise. With Nightfall launching next week and the Hunter/Prey update slated for April 14, Season 2 presents a crucial opportunity for the team to win back some of the player base it had at launch.
