Helldivers 2 Update 6.2.2 Overhauls Balance, Adds Two New Biomes

Following player feedback that was described as both 'fair' and 'painful,' Arrowhead has released another major patch for Helldivers 2. The Machinery of Oppression update 6.2.2 brings significant balance changes, two new biomes, and a host of fixes, alongside the new Exo Experts Warbond featuring close-combat exosuit designs.

Patch highlights include a lush forest planet—a first for the game—a new enemy variant, major Exo Suit rebalancing, enemy rebalancing, sidearm and stratagem adjustments, and bug fixes. According to Arrowhead, the forest biome offers 'tranquil forests with winding paths and shade from massive trees,' but also harbors threats from undemocratic foes and Gloom-infested signals resembling Bile Titans.

Exosuits have been significantly buffed: their main health pool increased, and they now only die when that pool is depleted, rather than from specific weak points. Heavy Devastators' shields are now destructible, and War Strider leg hip joints have reduced armor from Heavy to Medium.

However, enemy durable damage has been increased across the board, particularly for Terminids, to improve their ability to damage vehicles. Arrowhead stated, 'We think automatons and illuminates do damage reasonably well against vehicles... the Terminids however have fallen behind.'

Community sentiment remains mixed. Recent dissatisfaction led former CEO Johan Pilestedt to hold a Reddit AMA, acknowledging 'disappointment, criticism and mistrust.' He noted that many points raised were fair, some painful, but emphasized the community's deep care for the game. Players have called for more attention to old systems, gear, progression, and the Galactic War, rather than prioritizing Warbonds.
