A new leak from the Korean ratings board suggests that Paradox Interactive is working on a LEGO-themed spinoff of Cities: Skylines, titled LEGO Skylines. The listing, spotted by Gematsu, appeared before any official announcement. IGN has reached out to Paradox for comment.
Details are limited, but fans of the city-building series are buzzing about the concept of a LEGO version of the game. While the idea seems fitting, many are wary given the troubled launch of Cities: Skylines 2, which faced performance issues and missing features. One Reddit user joked, "How tf are they doing that when 2 is still in the shape it is in?" Another added, "Can't wait! See you three years after release when the game is somewhat playable!"
Paradox is listed as the publisher, but the developer remains unknown. The original Cities: Skylines and its sequel were made by Colossal Order, which left Paradox last year. Development of Cities: Skylines 2 now rests with Iceflake Studios, which is also working on long-delayed console ports.
Despite skepticism, some fans are excited. "A LEGO City building game would knock my socks off, if they did it right," one wrote. Another reminisced, "LEGO and the first Sim City games were my childhood, so this announcement has straight-up grabbed my hype right in the nostalgia."
Cities: Skylines was a major success for Paradox, but its sequel launched poorly in October 2023. IGN's review gave it a 6/10, calling it "an ambitious sequel that might have bitten off more than it can chew."
