A new patch for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has sparked backlash among players as it makes earning a tactical nuke Killstreak impossible in Free-for-All, a popular Multiplayer mode. Developer Infinity Ward announced the changes on Twitter, stating: "We've made two adjustments to Free-for-All in #MW4." The tweaks include reducing the score limit and changing party size restrictions. Now, players can only queue for Free-for-All with one friend in their party, and the score required to win a match has been lowered from 30 kills to 25.
The community is upset because this update prevents players from fully completing the game. A Calling Card called Ground Zero requires earning a tactical nuke in a Free-for-All match, which demands 30 consecutive kills without dying. With the new 25-kill cap, achieving a nuke is no longer possible. There's no word yet on whether Activision or Infinity Ward plan to adjust the nuke requirement or change the Calling Card to something achievable.
These changes come in response to a rise in account boosting in Free-for-All. Players seeking the Ground Zero Calling Card were teaming up with three friends and farming kills to earn nukes, ruining the experience for others. While the adjustments should curb this behavior, they also frustrate players who want to play Free-for-All legitimately with friends or earn the Calling Card fairly. One player remarked, "One of the calling cards is literally 30 kills in a FFA match lmao brain dead," while another asked, "Can we not keep changing stuff? FFA has always been 30 kills why change it now?"
The response to the announcement has been overwhelmingly negative, so it wouldn't be surprising if Infinity Ward reverses or tweaks the decision. This news arrives shortly after Shipment, one of Call of Duty's most iconic maps, was added to Modern Warfare 4.
