PlayStation has officially revealed its 2026 Black Friday sale, marking its first major holiday promotion of the year. The deals will go live on PlayStation Direct at midnight on November 4 and run through November 30. This is a notable change from last year, when discounts were limited to the week of Black Friday itself.
As for what's actually on offer? The announcement is light on specifics, only stating that shoppers will find "deep discounts up to 75% off, across thousands of PS5, PS4 and PS VR2 games, expansions, and DLC." Notably absent is any mention of consoles, accessories, or PS Plus memberships.
The announcement does offer a sneak peek at some of the games that will be discounted, including several big 2026 releases. While exact discounts remain unknown, you can get a feel for each title by checking out IGN's original reviews.
Retailers like Best Buy and Amazon have already begun rolling out early Black Friday deals, offering even more discounts on older physical PS5 games such as God of War Ragnarok and Ghost of Tsushima. Yes, discs are a touchy subject, I know.
It's no secret that consoles are ridiculously expensive, so one would hope Black Friday would be the rare opportunity to get around the current MSRP. Unfortunately, things aren't looking promising for PS5 deals in 2026.
Sony has traditionally announced a new PS5 game bundle for Black Friday, with last year's being Fortnite-themed. This year? No bundle is mentioned at all.
In 2025, Sony offered a $100 discount across consoles, which essentially canceled out the PS5 price hike from the month before. In fact, last year Sony announced discounts across its entire hardware line, including $20 off DualSense controllers and $100 off the PSVR2.
This year's announcement doesn't indicate any hardware discounts. That doesn't mean deals won't exist, but it does suggest they won't be as good as last year's—or perhaps haven't been finalized yet.
The one sign of hope? A small asterisk next to some sale dates.
The PlayStation announcement notes that some discounts will end on November 20 and be replaced with new offers. This date aligns with when Sony launched its full console deals last year, so there's still a chance we'll see a 'second wave' of PlayStation Black Friday deals that actually includes some hardware.
Individual retailers like Best Buy or Amazon may also drop some kind of console discount, but I wouldn't expect it to be too hefty.
Not all hope is lost if you're hoping to get your hands on a current-gen console, especially in the lead-up to perhaps the biggest console-exclusive release of all time. (GTA 6, in case that wasn't clear.) It just might not be brand new.
Sony is currently offering $40 off refurbished PS5 bundles with DualSense controllers. The bundle starts at $518 for the Digital Edition, while the disc-drive model comes to $568.
If you're looking for some extra cash to spend on Black Friday, Sony is offering up to $400 to anyone willing to offload their PS5 console and controllers. It seems we're in full refurb territory, which likely stems from ongoing stock issues amid RAMageddon.
