If you've spent any time in Helldivers 2, you're well aware that friendly fire can be just as deadly as enemy assaults. This is part of the charm of Arrowhead's chaotic and often uproarious action title, where explosions can come from anywhere and danger is always lurking.

But what exactly leads to the most friendly fire mishaps? As a dedicated Helldivers 2 enthusiast, I've often pondered this while chuckling over my headset after accidentally obliterating teammates with a misplaced turret or explosive. Ah, those turrets—sometimes more of a hazard than a help!

Arrowhead has now shed light on this with an infographic detailing various stats from Helldivers 2's second year. It shows that Terminids are the most eliminated enemy faction, which aligns with their abundance and the sheer enjoyment of battling them.

The data gets more intriguing when examining the most-used stratagems. The top three are predictable: Reinforce leads the pack for reviving squadmates, followed by the ever-reliable 500KG Bomb, and Resupply in third place.

However, the friendly fire rankings truly capture attention. Topping the list is the Eagle Strafing Run, which significantly outpaces other culprits like the Hellbomb. I was surprised by how much chaos it causes! This likely includes the DSS Eagle Storm, which triggers automatic Eagle Strafing Runs during missions. Players frequently criticize the DSS for accidental friendly fire, with some opting to avoid it altogether.

A recent Reddit thread highlights community frustration: 'The DSS Eagle Storm is an active detriment to our operations on Cyberstan,' posted during the push against the Cyborg homeworld. Another user shared, 'I just finished a D10 campaign where my team either died to stray Eagle Strafing Runs or experienced game crashes from Eagle Strikes. We should get a low-cooldown Eagle Strafing stratagem instead of random map-wide strikes. The resources wasted on fixing Eagle-1's errors are excessive and fixable.' A commenter added, 'Yeah, those DSS Eagle pilots really need to work on their coordination.'

Meanwhile, the Guard Dog's presence on the list is no shock—that thing can be a menace! And let's not even get started on mines.

There's plenty to reflect on as fans and Arrowhead consider Helldivers 2's future, which remains robust over two years post-launch. For more insights, check out IGN's recent interview with game director Mikael Eriksson.
