Cold Iron Studios, the team behind the recently launched four-player co-op PvE sequel Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, has confirmed that the Nintendo Switch 2 version has been delayed to early 2027. The game was originally set to launch this month.

"After careful consideration, we now plan to release it natively on Switch 2 in early 2027," the studio said in a statement. "This extra time will help the team deliver the best possible version for the hardware. Thank you for your patience and understanding. In the meantime, the team at Cold Iron remains aggressively focused on tuning Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 to be the best possible experience for every player."

This marks the second major third-party game today to postpone its Nintendo Switch 2 version. IO Interactive also announced that 007: First Light won't arrive on Nintendo's latest hardware until early next year.

IGN awarded the PC, Xbox, and PlayStation versions of Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 a 7 out of 10, noting, "Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 isn't going to make you leave a co-op shooter you already love at the altar, but it is a good time with friends."
