An analysis of Sony's latest business document reveals a significant shift in its multiplatform release strategy, with PC no longer mentioned as a target for first-party launches. The change, spotted by Game File in Sony's 229-page filing to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, confirms earlier reports that PlayStation is stepping back from releasing its single-player games on PC. Just yesterday, Bloomberg's Jason Schreier reported that PlayStation CEO Herman Hulst told an internal meeting that single-player narrative games will only launch on PlayStation consoles going forward. This means upcoming titles like Insomniac Games' Marvel's Wolverine, Santa Monica Studio's God of War Laufey, and Naughty Dog's Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet won't get PC ports. However, online live-service games, such as Guerrilla Games' Horizon Hunters Gathering, will still see PC releases. The 2025 SEC report previously mentioned plans to "continue its efforts to deploy its first-party titles to multiple platforms such as PC" (Sony had even dabbled with Switch publishing for LEGO Horizon Adventures), but the 2026 report cuts this line entirely. Another notable addition is a section on AI, where Sony aims to "unleash the creativity of studios and further enhance the PlayStation experience" by improving productivity, routing transactions efficiently, shaping personalized recommendations, and enhancing in-game visuals. This follows industry trends like Epic Games' recent AI push. Sony's shift mirrors a similar move by Xbox, which is now holding back some games as exclusives, though Xbox exclusives still launch on PC. It remains unclear how many future titles will be exclusive, with only Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution currently labeled as such.
