IO Interactive has officially revealed that the upcoming James Bond video game, 007: First Light, will feature a main title theme performed by Lana Del Rey. Speculation about Del Rey's involvement began late last year when she registered a song titled 'First Light' under her real name, Elizabeth Grant, with the ASCAP database. Keen-eyed fans quickly linked this to the game, and the track is now available on Del Rey's YouTube channel.

The song embodies the classic Bond aesthetic while cleverly nodding to the video game medium, possibly referencing Del Rey's own hit 'Video Games.' The score was composed by David Arnold, the veteran behind five Bond films from Tomorrow Never Dies to Quantum of Solace. Lyrics like 'Can't say I'm surprised to see you running toward the sun... It's the first light of day' add to the cinematic feel.

This marks Del Rey's second brush with the Bond franchise; her 2005 track '24' was initially considered for the film Spectre but was ultimately replaced by Sam Smith's 'Writing's On the Wall.'

007: First Light has faced multiple leaks recently, including an accidental reveal of the game's ending by the Indonesian ratings board just this week. With only six weeks until launch, IO Interactive is working hard to keep story details under wraps to preserve surprises.

Developed by the team behind Hitman, 007: First Light aims to launch a new James Bond trilogy with an impressive cast. The game stars Patrick Gibson from Dexter: Original Sin as a younger Bond, alongside Gemma Chan, Lennie James, and Lenny Kravitz in an origin story that remains largely secret.

After a delay, the game is scheduled for release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S on May 27, with a Switch 2 version to follow later in the summer. Notably, Lenny Kravitz not only appears in the cast but also plays the villain Bawma, who menaces Bond in a scene involving crocodiles.
