Back in March, Ubisoft unveiled the initial concept artwork for Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, officially confirming the existence of the highly anticipated remake of the beloved pirate-themed installment in the series. Today, we have a potential release date: July 9. This date was reported by Insider Gaming, though Ubisoft has yet to confirm it officially.

In a now-deleted March blog post, Jean Guesdon, Head of Content at Ubisoft, playfully addressed the rumors surrounding the remake. He wrote, 'Speculation around Assassin's Creed is nothing new, but it's worth repeating: "Nothing is true. Everything is permitted." Well, except in this case, some whispers have a little more wind in their sails. Keep your spyglass on the horizon. 🦜'

The project's official title, Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced, first appeared in December when it surfaced in a listing from the European PEGI ratings board. This discovery followed earlier hints from the lead actor of the original game.

In June 2024, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot expressed enthusiasm for such projects, stating, 'Players can be excited about some remakes, which will allow us to revisit some of the games we've created in the past and modernize them; there are worlds in some of our older Assassin's Creed games that are still extremely rich.'
