Italian game company Digital Bros., the parent of Wuchang: Fallen Feathers publisher 505 Games, has purchased the intellectual property rights for the soulslike action RPG from developer Chengdu Lingze Technology Co. Ltd for approximately $4.6 million. This acquisition grants Digital Bros. full ownership of the IP and all future royalties.
IP rights protect intangible creations like game stories or mechanics, allowing the owner to produce media such as books, games, and TV shows without fear of unauthorized copying.
Digital Bros. noted that Wuchang: Fallen Feathers showed "strong commercial traction" after its 2025 release, selling over 1 million units and generating more than $35.1 million in revenue. The company believes the IP will improve its ability to make timely decisions on future development and investments, aligning with its goal to expand its portfolio of fully-owned game franchises.
While Digital Bros. may not be a household name, its subsidiary 505 Games is well-known for publishing titles like Terraria, Dead by Daylight, and the PC and Xbox versions of Death Stranding. 505 Games previously owned the Control IP but sold it back to developer Remedy Entertainment in 2024.
For Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, this purchase should secure the franchise's short- to medium-term future. IGN gave the game a 'Great' 8/10 in its review.
