Since its unveiling in 2019, Crimson Desert from Pearl Abyss has built a reputation for its expansive open world and diverse gameplay, aiming to compete with top-tier titles like The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and The Witcher 3. This ambition has sparked both excitement and doubt among players, with some questioning if the game can truly deliver on its grand promises.
Recently, hands-on previews have shown that Crimson Desert is on track to meet its goals as an engaging action-adventure. Yet, skepticism persists online, fueled by past disappointments in the gaming industry and the long wait since its initial announcement.
At a recent media event, we interviewed Will Powers, Pearl Abyss's director of marketing and PR, to address these concerns and discuss the game's development. Powers provided candid insights into the nearly seven-year journey since Crimson Desert's reveal and expressed his vision for it to stand out as a distinct action adventure, separate from the legacy of Black Desert Online.
